Painter Sam Barber’s art studio in downtown Osterville is a feast for the senses. His colorful, impressionistic paintings capture Cape Cod in its year-round beauty. Landscapes, portraits, and scenes from the Cape and beyond fill Barber's two-floor studio with a kaleidoscope of colors.
Initially from Europe, Barber moved first to Brooklyn, N.Y., then discovered Cape Cod more than five decades ago when he came to Provincetown to study with Henry Hensche -- and never left. Barber spends most of his days listening to classical music, filling his studio with shades and colors of the Cape. A visitor can see nearly every corner of Osterville, in every light, without ever leaving his gallery.
